Who can’t explain how “love your neighbor” leads to bombing them

And who know somehow there’s a more conscious way for us all to live here together on earth

Maybe you feel like Jesus was onto something

But you can’t find it being expressed from most pulpits

I am with you

Who am I?

I’m a 50 year old son, brother, husband, father of two

My father is a black man from Memphis, Tennessee and my mother is a white lady from Ireland

My sister is married to a woman

I have been trained as a biochemist and a chemist

I love the natural world

And I had an intense unitive experience (without the use of substances) that removed any doubt about the presence of God and fueled my search for consciousness

Today my aim is to develop a strong attention that allows me see myself as I actually am

And by doing that, get free from the chains of what is otherwise a series of conditioned and predictable responses (ego)

How did I get here? 

I grew up on the central coast of California hunting and fishing

I was a wild child, the outdoors is my first language

I met my wife in the local Nazarene youth group at age 12

I spent a decade in Northern California/Bay Area studying biochemistry then selling pharmaceuticals 

I pursued a PhD in Chemistry for a time, eventually left and went into biotech industry

I sat in mens groups (Mankind Project), Al Anon groups, Tich Nhat Hahn groups, contemplative christian groups...searching

After a period of regular contemplative practice I had a unitive experience in May of 2012 that led to the conception of my son 

I later helped start an open and affirming church in March 2014 for christianity’s outcasts and co led it for 5 years

I found Cynthia Bourgeault’s book “Wisdom Jesus" to be very helpful guidance for upgrading one’s operating system

I found a reference to Cynthia’s participation in the Fourth Way as a practical method for this journey and began to search there myself

I am now in a Fourth Way group that meets regularly and believe this could be helpful for many deconstructing Christians who don’t know where to go
